1st Hole 379 yards
An interesting opening hole alongside Trefloyne Wood,
with mature hedges and rough bordering the fairway,
and a judiciously placed drainage ditch to penalise
the wayward shot. Care and attention are needed if the
2nd is not to be approached 'one down'.
2nd Hole 421 yards
An undulating fairway plays onto a two tier green.
A mature oak stands to the left of the fairway to
catch the 'off line' drive. The second shot is a
tough iron with heavy rough to the left. A tricky
little bunker guards the lower right hand side of the green.
5th Hole 414 yards
An easier hole playing into a small valley short of
the green. A strong head wind should be the only obstacle
here, unless a mishit shot finds the trees to the left of the green.
8th Hole 464 yards
This is a tough left hand dog leg.
Mature hedging, an open ditch and the service road
must be negotiated. The right club for the second
shot is crucial to reach the tight green without mishap.
9th Hole 389 yards
Another testing par 4 over an open ditch.
The approach to the green is made more hazardous by
well placed bunkers. The location of the 9th green
close to the clubhouse is particularly convenient
for those wishing to play only the front nine holes.
10th Hole 308 yards
This short left hand dog leg starts the ‘back nine’.
It is not a gift of a par. The hole plays through mature
trees, and the green cannot be seen from the tee. An open
ditch short of the green, and a bunker on the apron, makes
this a teasing hole for the big hitter.
11th Hole 335 yards
A good drive will provide a realistic birdie opportunity
at this straight par 4. However, with the green out of view
from the tee over the brow of a hill, and a quarry bowl at
the back of the green, any big shots will be irretrievable.
13th Hole 423 yards
‘Unlucky for many’. One of the toughest holes at Trefloyne,
and few will attempt to drive the Old Quarry. Thus the
drive from the tee needs careful thought if a reasonable
placement is to be achieved for the second shot over the
old quarry bowl and on to the green. There is an escape
route towards the 18th fairway for the faint hearted,
but watch for the ‘out of bounds’!!
14th Hole 363 yards
This right hand dog leg with woods on the left
provides welcome respite from the terrors of the
13th. Nonetheless, well placed bunkers make this a
testing green to hit in two shots.
15th Hole 404 yards
The fairway at the 15th runs the length of the
thickly wooded Longbury Bank and then turns
sharply to the left. A poor drive means a second
shot before the green is in view. The green is
positioned at the bottom of the Bank, with the
pond and a large oak tree at the rear, and an
open ditch in front. Two bunkers also guard
the approach to the green. A picturesque but formidable hole.
17th Hole 437 yards
One of the less challenging of the par 4s.
Straight, but long, this hole represents the
opportunity to redeem a few dropped shots.
It serves as good preparation for the 18th.
