The Junior Section @ Trefloyne has seen a considerable re-vamp for the 2010 season with many new additions to look forward to. Junior fixture diaries are available from Junior Organiser Sue Ensor or from the Pro-Shop. These offer a complete insight into what's going on during the season and sees the introduction of team matches, an away day, our junior open day as well as regular coaching for all ages of the section.
We are pleased to introduce our junior captain for 2010, Matthew Adams who will be ably assisted by his vice-captain Greg Palin. Both boys will be on hand through-out the year not only to help the smooth running of the section but also to enhance our new mentoring system. This system enables younger golfers, who are relatively new to the game, the chance to play regularly and practice with their older mentors.
On going for 2010 will be the Trefloyne Junior Academy. The Academy is aimed at aspiring young golfers who are looking to develop their skills in a challenging yet fun environment. The academy looks to develop not only technical ability but also knowledge and understanding of the rules and etiquette associated with the game. All levels incorporate LTAD (long term athlete development), covering balance and hand eye co-ordination tests, relevant not only to golf, but everyday life skills. It has been scientifically proven that children between the ages of 4 and 14 are most susceptible to developing these skills and it is a primary objective of the academy to install these building blocks in as much depth as possible. The academy is aimed at both members and non-members and can be started at any time during the year.
